Non-Contact Day and Specialist Learning Areas
Non-contact Days
Nulsen Primary school timetables a non-contact day for all classroom teachers. This means that students have two dedicated classroom teachers.
The Non-Contact Day teachers focus on the Learning Areas of Measurement and Geometry, Science and the Arts.
Specialist Learning Areas
Science
At Nulsen Primary School we are very lucky to have a dedicated Science Lab, containing all the latest fixtures and equipment which classroom teachers can access. Our science program is a hands on STEM approach, incorporating all the aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
The children work within small groups to enhance their team building skills, as well as working on their individual understanding. The science program has so many different aspects; we predict, question ourselves, test, make changes, retest, discuss findings, try something different, all while having fun.
No question or idea is ever too big, with our student driven learning, all children are engaged and have a personal investment in the findings.
STEM science, a learning experience for life!
The Year 6 students have weekly Science lessons at Esperance Senior High school which is a part of the transition to high school program.
The Arts
At Nulsen Primary the students are undertake two subjects each year.
Visual arts which include the fields of art, craft and design.
Performance Arts which include the fields of music, dance and drama.
Students create representations that communicate, challenge, and express their own and others’ ideas as artist and audience. This involves students making and responding to artworks, drawing on the world as a source of ideas.
Physical Education
Nulsen Primary School’s Physical Education programme (PE) is focused on the development of Fundamental Movement Skills in the junior grades and cultivating specialised movement skills in a variety of different contexts in the senior grades.
